In our BEING series, we advocate reading the same book with your child each evening for three weeks. If you read the same book for three weeks, this gives a chance for the child to learn the content, and enables them to raise their confidence in understanding the content.

Keep these 5 things in mind:

🍯 Allocate 10 minutes to read the book with your child. Elaborate beyond the story about your own travels, or desires for a trip to the destination.

🍯 Depending on the age of your child, you may read the book, or take turns having your child read some of the simpler pages or sentences. Aim to have your child read pages where they would understand at least 9 out of 10 words. This lets them learn a new word.

🍯 You can make a list of any new words, and use it for the next evening, when you cover the same content.

🍯 When reading, use your finger or a pen to follow along with the words. Some pages in the BEING series will be up to a grade 3 reading level (age eight years).

🍯 As each book in our series follows the same pattern, the content becomes familiar to your child, so no matter the age of your child, there will be some pages they can read. Some pages are always the same, and with each book, even the earliest reader will read these pages, e.g. “Hi, my name is Beary Bear. What is your name?

Enjoy your reading and let us know how you get along!
